Factory & Sustainability

Sustainability
We have two homes, our earth, and our bodies.
Bassigue is taking care of them both.
As Bassigue, we are an apparel brand that stands for both our people and our environment. Bassigue works closely with innovative vendors to develop high quality textiles from both natural fibers and recycled content. Bassigue believes that clean production will minimize environmental impact and benefit both the producer and the customer. We work with vendors who have zero waste policies and who use minimum water. We use recycled paper as our packaging, and we carry an in-house manufacturing for an energy efficient production.
Our sustainability vision incorporates every stage such as but not limited to; procurement of raw materials, manufacturing of the thread, knitting of the fabric, dyeing, sewing, packaging, shipping, garment care, and recycling.

Production
Fabric
Our fabrics have the following properties; comfort, colorfastness and durability to minimize our environmental impact. We use high quality cotton that blends with elastane and polyester. We do not use toxic pesticides or chemicals. Each garment is thoroughly inspected before shipment, ironed, and packaged according to customer requirements.
In House Manufacturing
Since 1985, our factory’s expertise has primarily been washed garments. Our in-house fabrics include three yarn fleece, two yarn fleece, single jersey, double jersey, pique, interlock, ribbing and spacer fabric qualities. Every raw roll is inspected before shipping to the dye house.
As Bassigue, we avoid transportation emissions by going through 95% of the manufacturing processes in-house.

Factory Conditions
 Energy Efficiency
As an apparel brand, it is our duty to be conscious of our energy consumption. Therefore, we are proud to be vertically integrated with environmentally conscious suppliers. For instance, our main thread supplier acquires most of their electricity through 2350 kWh wind turbines on their facility.
  Environmentally Conscious
It takes 2,720 liters of water to make just one t-shirt. That’s why we recycle and reuse human and industrial water waste for powering the factory.
Since 1985, we work with a “Zero Waste” policy. Paper, plastic and fabric waste is separated for recycling.
Exceptional Quality
  Designed to Last
We need to buy less and buy better.  Bassigue promises to provide long lasting, timeless pieces.
We take several measures to maintain the quality of our garments:
Pre-production quality control
Quality control during production
Final inspection
Quality control to developing a sampling plan
Post-production quality evaluation
Garment Accessories are inspected in the same manner as other textile and apparel products. Closures, interlinings, sewing threads and elastic waistbands are checked during pre-production, production, and post production.

Packaging
%100 Recycled Bags & Biodegradable and Recyclable Boxes
We use %100 Recycled plastic bags that are made out of waste. Recycled plastic uses 30-80% less energy than traditional plastic, and in many cases is more energy efficient and less polluting than bioplastic.

More Travel, Less Footprints;
As Bassigue People, we find our greatest inspiration while traveling. Therefore we have to be conscious of our carbon footprint and work to reduce it. We are calling everyone to act and work hand in hand for a better future. We have to take care of our planet, so that it can continue to take care of us. Here are some tips to reduce your carbon footprints while travelling;
  •   Take a carry on and pack light.
When the plane has to carry heavy luggage, it uses more fuel.
  •       Look for alternatives to flying.
Consider taking a bus or train to get to your destination. Taking a bus that uses renewable energy can extremely diminish CO2 emissions.
  •   Take a direct flight.
Planes release the most carbon during takeoff and landing. Instead of taking the cheaper flight with one or two stops, opt for a nonstop. If you’re flying internationally, search for the flight with the least amount of stops.
Avoid water waste by carrying a reusable bottle.
  • Fly economy.
Studies estimate that a first-class seat could have a carbon footprint as much as nine times as big as an economy one.
  • Calculate and offset your carbon footprints per flight.
Carbon offsetting offers you a way to balance out your pollution by investing in projects that will reduce CO2 emissions. We suggest to offset your flights with; https://carbonfund.org. They invest in projects such as reforestation, forest protection and renewable energy. Just remember that offsetting your carbon footprint does not give you a free pass, we all have to be responsible travelers at all times.
  • Wear Bassigue!
As a sustainably aware apparel brand, every product has been carefully produced and has been minimized in carbon footprints. Wear Bassigue for a better future.
